 About

Artist, Activist, Researcher, Lecturer

As an interdisciplinary artist, my work is often layered in its composition and not easily categorised by one of the several mediums it spans – drawing, painting, photography, film, dance, live art, and poetry. What matters is not so much the form as the space that the work occupies: somewhere between activism, sociopolitics, psychology, and neuroscience, my work engages with narratives of violence and articulations of trauma, and embraces radical vulnerability and resistance.

I investigate the impact of violence and abuse on mind and body, I explore creative and embodied approaches to healing trauma, and I claim a space in our sociocultural scene for survivors to rewrite the narrative of trauma. My work challenges established power dynamics and redefines  ownership and authorship of experiences of the self. It also questions the role of society and culture in precipitating violence and abuse and calls for critical reflections on our individual and collective responsibilities toward others.

I also walk scientific paths that are concerned with the same issues and I have founded an organisation dedicated to bringing art and science together in order to change the ecosystem of trauma and create new horizons for survivors. See: www.traumascapes.org
